About Us
Welcome! This is the official website of the Greater Houston Chapter (GHC) of the American Harp Society whose mission is to “celebrate our legacy, inspire excellence and empower the next generation of harpists.” Our aim as the local chapter is to "promote and foster the appreciation of the harp as a musical instrument.”
The American Harp Society, Inc. (AHS) was founded in 1962 to assist, encourage, and unify performers, teachers, students, composers, and aficionados. Today, there are over 3,000 individual members in the Society with over 70 state and local chapters throughout North and South America, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Members include leading soloists, orchestral players, commercial, jazz and popular performers, freelancers, harp therapists, college and university professors, adult amateurs, students of all ages, and all those who have an interest in the harp.
