MUSIC REQUIREMENTS

All pieces must be played from memory with the exception of Division V cadenza and Divisions VI & VII orchestral excerpts.

Please note: if an entire free choice piece does not fit within the time limit for their division, a contestant should choose a portion of that work to perform, and will not be penalized in any way. 

DIVISION I  (grades 1-2)

1. Three O’Clock from First-Grade Pieces for Harp by Marcel Grandjany
2. Free Choice (2 minute time limit)

DIVISION II  (grades 3-4)

1. Stars from Graded Recital Pieces Volume 1 by Susann McDonald and Linda Wood
2. Free Choice (4 minute time limit)

DIVISION III  (grades 5-6)

1. Church Choir from Little Harp Book, by Marcel Grandjany
2. Free Choice (5 minute time limit)

DIVISION IV  (grades 7-8)

1. Minuet from The Magic Road, by Nancy Gustavson
2. Free Choice (6 minute time limit)

DIVISION V  (grades 9-10) 

1. Harp Cadenza from Capriccio Espagnol, by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov
2. Free Choice (3 minute minimum & 7 minute maximum)

DIVISION VI  (grades 11-12) 

1. Harp Excerpt, Overture (Rehearsal G-H) from La Forza del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi
2. Free Choice (3 minute minimum & 7 minute maximum)

DIVISION VII  (College: must be enrolled in a collegiate undergraduate or Master’s degree program)

1. Free Choice – one orchestral excerpt from the standard repertoire (2-3 minute time limit)
2. Free Choice – one solo work or movement (8 minute time limit)
