A Message From Our President

Hello Harpists,

I hope this newsletter finds you healthy, safe, and sound. It has been a strange time for all of us, but I have been inspired by the creativity and support of the harp community. Even though our chapter event and the national convention have had to be postponed, I am confident that our community will come back stronger than ever. I hope that harp has been and will be a source of comfort and peace, and I look forward to the time we can enjoy music and community in person again. In the meantime, I encourage you to listen to the wonderful video content created by members of our chapter, and if you are playing any music from home, please share with us! As always, let me know if there is anything I can do, and always feel free to reach out if you have any questions or ideas for future events. Stay safe and healthy!

Save the Date: August 30
Our chapter recital, originally scheduled for April 19, has been postponed. The new date is August 30th at 3 pm at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church (8915 Timberside Dr, Houston, TX 77025). This fun, non-competitive performance opportunity is open to harp students grades K–12.  Students and their teachers must be current members of the GHC of the AHS. To become a member, visit https://houstonharpists.com/join/. Each student should prepare one piece (or movement) of their choice to share with their peers, friends, and family. A memorized performance is preferred, but not required. Any questions and comments can be directed to Hope Cowan at hope.k.cowan@gmail.com or 507-993-4969. Please mark your calendars and save the date for what will be a truly fantastic event.
