Summer definition: the year-round season in Houston. On the flip side, it is the time for summer harp workshops, a break for many of our school teachers and harp students, and time for getaway trips. I hope you are planing to attend a workshop or program that we have featured in past issues of the GLISSANDO.
The GHC brings AHS Concert Artist Abigail Kent to Houston on Saturday, September 22 for an exclusive masterclass and recital. Many thanks to Emily Klein who once again has arranged a wonderful day for us all to enjoy.
Since we did not collect membership dues last year because of Hurricane Harvey, our student recital in March and the Grace Browning event in May were offered as a gift to our chapter. Abigail’s recital and masterclass will serve as a GHC membership kick-off event for us, with reduced pricing for the recital for those who renew their membership. Our treasurer, Alaina Graiser, will assist us as well as the rest of the GCH Board.
More news in August about a very exciting addition to the GHC: our new website! It will enable you to renew your membership, donate to the Mildred Milligan Competition, and much more. (Don’t worry, you still have the option of renewing by mail.) Stay tuned for more about the GHC’s launch into the 21st century (finally!). We are working together, and I hope you will join us.
Best wishes for a glorious Fourth of July!
