A Message From Our President

Hello Harpists!

I am excited to begin my tenure as President of our vibrant harp chapter! Houston became my home 14 years ago when I started my undergraduate education at Rice University. It has been a true joy to watch the chapter grow alongside our city. We have welcomed many talented students, professionals, and harp enthusiasts over the years who have contributed to the success of the chapter. Thank you to all of our members who made our 2021-2022 season feel like a post-pandemic rebirth of the GHC by participating in our masterclasses, inaugural college fair, recitals, and happy hour. Plans are underway for the 2022-2023 season and there’s always room to get involved. Please let me or any of the board members know if you would like to lend a hand during the upcoming season.

Houston Youth Summer Festival
The Houston Summer Harp Festival will be held July 12th-17th at Houston Baptist University. It is open to students entering 6th grade – graduated 12th grade. We have two levels of harp ensemble, and also do masterclasses, workshops, and fun harp activities. It is a great chance for harpists to build ensemble skills, play together, learn more about the world of harp, and make new harp friends. Let me know if you have any questions.

Information and registration can be here. The registration deadline is TODAY, June 1st!

Houston Youth Harp Ensemble
Registration opens on June 15 for the Houston Youth Harp Ensemble!  Keep a lookout on their Facebook page for information once registration opens, or sign up for their mailing list here to stay up to date on all of the latest news.

HYHE’s Fall 2022 Theme is “From the Symphony.”  The repertoire will include arrangements of pieces you might expect to hear at a Houston Symphony concert, which will challenge HYHE members to use the harp to represent instruments and sounds from all across the orchestra!
